Ikat and Indigo Asia

In 2023, Rachel and two friends entered several themed garments into an exhibit at the Pacific International Quilt Festival. Their theme was continents, and each of them created garments inspired by different continents using fabrics from those regions. Rachel’s Asia Coat, titled Ikat and Indigo Asia, was made using ikat and indigo fabrics. She also created coats inspired by North America and Australia, each following the same pattern and colorway.

For the Asia-inspired coat, Rachel chose a mix of old and new ikat fabrics, all featuring red or turquoise in their patterns. She enhanced the collection with similar fabrics and embellished the garment with red fabric accents, red stitching, and a wide indigo border without stitching.
