"Picture This" Elephant Ramble

When I designed the ‘Picture This’ vest pattern, I wanted to provide a blank canvas to "picture" a design or image on the back of a vest and build the rest of the vest around that particular theme.  For this vest I used a cotton elephant print on the back to set the and combined it with a piece of African fabric, hand-dyed fabrics from Cherrywood. I used other animal prints on the front, sides, and peplum. I machine quilted the upper back picture, hand quilted the front and embellished the scene with grey buttons. Some of the elephants’ eyes are enhanced with glass beads. For the closure, I used a variety of Mother of Pearl buttons.
